Net Disk 1.0 In country far far away, not so far far ago... In year 2005 I've got oldschool PowerBook 190. It was prety nice machine with decent batery life (10 years old and 2+ hours ? incredible) and very good typewriter. I hated czech OS 7.5 installed onto it and erased hard drive, because I thought, that using NetAccess Disk I will be able to instal 7.5.3 English International through AppleTalk from my G3. With empty drive I realised, that NetAccess Disk is not suitable for PowerBook 190 (probably because of its 68040 CPU). Well what to do ? Because I sold my G3 and bought iBook few months after then, it seemed that no solution will be found (As iBook has no serial ports for AppleTalk). But recently I got Mac LCIII and I was interested in my good old PB190 again. So - I downloaded a couple of bootdisks with MacOS and tried one after another and found some which actualy do boot on PB. By erasing disk tools and all stuff that was not necessary for my goal and using Network Software Installer I did it. Result is this: Bootable floppy disk image with System 7.5.3 English, Minimal System Enabler 410, AppleShare Extension, Network Control Panel and Chooser Application. I tested it on PowerBook 190, it works excelent, then I tried it on LCIII, it didn't work at all (software unsuitable for this computer etc. etc.) If you used this disk succesully on some other Mac or Book, please let me know. However - although I made this disk from components distributed by Apple in their support archives, I can't give you any warranty. Get the image, decide if you want to take the risk to use it and then do so, or delete it. Future plans: Since there is only 70kB left on floppy I put there SimpleText and warranty file. If I find something more useful, I will put it there. If you have any suggestions or tips, please contact me. Disk is distributed as image for DiskCopy from Apple. You can download it as binhexed RAR archive or directly as binhexed image. Martin K aka Logout mail: logout@mb-maniax.met ICQ: 10-777-27-29
