CRUX PPC EFIKA MINI #1 20070612 This is a test image. It contains a subset of the core CRUX PPC ports, ready to be untarred on an usb pendrive and booted from there. To use it you will need about 200 Mb of space on your pendrive, on the first partition of which you're supposed to create an ext2 or ext3 partition. Mount the partition, untar the file on it and you're ready; unmount, put the pendrive in an EFIKA USB port, and power the EFIKA on. Note that it's not adviceable to have an hard disk on the EFIKA, if you're booting from USB, as device names might conflict. In that case you can either adjust /etc/fstab on the usb drive or directly untar the file on hard-disk and adjust the needed files. At the smartfirmware "ok" prompt just type: boot hd:0 /boot/zImage.chrp root=/dev/sda1 rootdelay=10 console=ttyPSC0 and you should see CRUX PPC booting. if hd:0 doesn't fit your system use the devalias command and read the efika documentation located at http://www.efika.info When your system is up and running you can configure ethernet interface and mount an nfs share or download packages; any package found on the crux-ppc 2.2.0.2rc1 cd will work well; please note that you will have to install gcc forcibly as some needed files are already there and will conflict with the package. Please note that 2.2.0.2rc1 is older than this archive, so waiting for a new release (that is coming in few days) to install extra packages is adviceable. We hope to release soon a fine-tuned and trimmed Efika archive; we will probably remove some terminfo and gconv files, and provide fine-tuned kernel with new patches along with a very simple dialog based network package fetcher and installer. That's all for now Enjoy :-) The CRUX PPC Team
