This utility is fully compatible with the Unix(tm) "sum" program (and the POSIX "cksum" program), and the RSA MD5. Checksum is business-ware: it is freeware for personal use on a single CPU and for educational institutions for instructional uses, but it must be registered ($10) if used in a business, corporation, organization or government. Drop Stuff w/ Expander Enhancer Expander Enhancer enables StuffIt Expander to expand files compressed and encoded with virtually every compression and encoding format found on the Macintosh, Unix systems, and IBM-PCs and compatibles. See the Expander Enhancer Read Me file for details. Drop Stuff with Expander Enhancer is shareware; fee is $30 after a 15 day trial period. Fetch Fetch is licensed free of charge to users affiliated with educational or charitable associations. Shareware fee $25 to all others. See the About Box. We recommend the "Fetch" program as a way of doing FTP under MacOS. The copy in this directory was retrieved on 980228 from: ftp://ftp.dartmouth.edu/pub/software/mac/ Netscape FTP Switcher This is an AppleScript that tells Netscape use Anarchie or Fetch as the default FTP client. In other words: When you click on URLs that begin with ftp://, Netscape sends the request to Anarchie or Fetch, instead of trying to do the job itself. Anarchie and Fetch tend to be a *lot* more stable than Netscape in handling such jobs. Freeware. Mac Gzip Mac Gzip can create and unpack gzip archives. Mac Gzip is freeware. See the various Readmes. Stuffit Expander We recommend Stuffit Expander as the way to unpack Stuffit (.sit) archives, decode binHex (.hqx) encoded files, etc. StuffIt Expander is copyrighted freeware software from Aladdin Systems Inc. Be sure to read the License agreement. StuffitExpander is packaged as a self-extracting archive; download iot to a Macintosh using binary transfer and double-click the resulting file.
